Some get the idea that being saved by faith means there is no motivation for conduct or works. They think that if a person is saved by Grace he does nothing. This could not be further from the truth. Saving faith is a faith that moves you. In James 2:18 he says this; “But someone will say, “You have faith & I have works.” show me your faith without your works, & I will show you my faith by my works. (James, is not talking about law-works but faith-works) If you have been saved we want to see your works. Paul is saying if you don't have works you are not saved. If you have been saved by faith you have a new motivation, a new life purpose, a new lifestyle. . If your faith in Christ has not changed you, you have not been saved. Paul discourages the idea that being saved by faith means you can sit in a rocking chair & rock yourself all the way to heaven.

Paul's efforts & energy comes from the Holy Spirit, which is far greater than anything that comes from the law. Under the law; Paul was willing to go to Damascus & stamp out the followers of Christ. But under the grace-faith system, he will go to the ends of the earth to make followers of Christ & to be a witness for Him. Let us be perfectly clear your works have absolutely nothing to do with your Salvation. God has only one question for the lost sinner to answer: “What will you do with Jesus who died for you? If you accept Him as your Savior you are saved by faith. That's the righteousness that comes only by faith. Even your life after Salvation doesn't build up a righteousness that has anything to do with your Salvation. Your faith in Christ is a motivation for you to live for God. That is the reason Paul went on to live as he did.

I just don't understand people who say they can't do anything for God. Some use heath issues but that won't work some say they are too old, but that don't work either. I will promote Christ as long as long as He allows me to. Our faith in Christ gives us real motivation to work for Him. We just need to remember what He has done for us on the cross.
