                      Humility of Christ – 4 <> Philippians 2:10-11

God was so completely satisfied with the redemptive work of Christ that He determined that every knee should bow to Him <> of beings in heaven, on earth, & under the earth. This does not mean that all these beings will be saved. Those who do not bow the knee to Him now will be one day compelled to do so. Those who will not be reconciled in the day of His Grace will be brought under His control in the day of His judgment.

In matchless grace, the Lord Jesus came from glory to Bethlehem, to Gethsemane, & to Calvary. God, in return, will honor Him with universal respect & acknowledgment of His Lordship. Those who have denied His claim as the Son of God, will one day admit that they have played the role of a fool, that they have greatly misunderstood, & that Jesus of Nazareth is truly the Lord of Glory.

Before we leave this great passage on the Person & work of the Lord Jesus, We should repeat that it was introduced in connection to a small problem in the church in Philippi. Paul did not set out to write a formal systematic exposition of the Lord. Rather, he was merely trying to correct selfishness & party spirits in the saints. This cure is the mind of Christ. Paul attempts to bring the Lord into every situation. Even dealing with the most delicate matters, such as distressing & distasteful.”

One writes, “he is able to state truth in such striking beauty as to make it appear like a precious jewel embedded in a clod of earth.

Paul is essentially saying that everyone will eventually & unanimously proclaim that which the Father has already stated (Isaiah 45:23; I have sworn by Myself; the Word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, & shall not return, that to Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall confess an oath). That Jesus Christ is Lord.
