Humility of Christ <> Philippians 2:6

When we read that Jesus was in the form of God, we also learn that He has always been as God. This is not to say He resembled God, but that He actually is God in the truest sense of the word.

Jesus did not consider it robbery to be equal with God. It is very important here to distinguish between personal & positional equality with God. As to Him personally, Christ always was, is, & will be equal with God. It would be impossible for Him to give that up. Now, positional equality is different. From all eternity Christ was positionally equal to the Father, enjoying the glories of heaven. But He did not consider this a position that He had to hold on to at all costs. When a world of lost people needed to be redeemed, He was willing to relinquish His positional equality with God <> the comforts & joys of heaven. He did not consider them something He had to hold on to forever under the circumstances.

So, He was willing to come into this world for you & me, face the contradictions of sinners against Him. God, the Father was never beaten or spit upon or crucified. In this case, the Father was greater than the Son <> not as to His Person, but greater as to His position & the manner in which He lived. Jesus expressed His thoughts here in John 14:28} You have heard Me say to you, “I am going away & coming back to you. “If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, 'I am going to the Father, ' For My Father is greater than I.  In other words the disciples should have rejoiced that He was going home to heaven. While here on earth He had been treated cruelly & rejected. He had been positionally lower than His Father, in that sense, His Father was greater. But when He went back to heaven. He would be equal with the Father, in His circumstances the same as His Father.

Just remember one thing, Jesus came to this earth for you & me. He was beaten spit upon & crucified. He Loved us that much.
