January 11th, 2018 - Phil 1: 25-26

Paul says to live is Christ-2  <> Philippians 1: 25-26

Point of Contact <> Bro. Ben Van Winkle

Paul was confident that he was still needed on earth to instruct, comfort, & encourage the saints <> he knew he would not be put to death yet. Now, How did he know this? We believe that he was able to live so close to the Holy Spirit that He was able to communicate this knowledge to him. “The secret of the Lord is with those who fear  Him.” (Psalm 25:14). Those who dwell deep in the presence of God, in quiet meditation, hear secrets that are drowned out by the noise, the rush, & the busy life of today. You have to be near to hear. Paul was near.

By remaining in the flesh, Paul would be able to promote their Spiritual progress & increase the joy that was theirs through trusting in the Lord.

Through being spared for longer service on earth, the Philippians would have added cause for rejoicing in the Lord when he would visit them once again. Just image that they throw their arms around him with excitement, & praise the Lord for his return to Philippi with great joy? The Philippians might say to him; Paul we have prayed for your return & now that you have returned we praise Him for hearing our prayers.

The Philippians were rejoicing for Paul, he knew that because the Philippians loved him greatly, they would be over joyed that God had preserved his life in prison & he was confident that their joint ministry would continue. Rejoicing here literally means “boasting” & “glorying.” Their rejoicing was to grow more abundantly because of the work of the Lord.

Paul is practical, he still has work to do. The Philippians need Paul's ministry. He wanted out of prison so he could go to them.

We play on the same stage as Paul. I want to stay as long as possible, & I have promised that I will teach His Word as long as He allows.
