The mystery which has been hidden from ages & from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. <> In the New Testament, a mystery is a truth not previously revealed, but is now made known to the sons of men, through those who preached & taught the Word of God of the New Testament. It is a truth that man could never have arrived at by his own intelligence but which God has graciously saw fit to make known.

The truth of the church was not known in the Old Testament period, it had been hidden from ages & generations (Ephesians 3:2-13; Romans 16:25-27). The church began on the day of Pentecost, & the truth of the church was revealed by the Apostles.

God began Israel by calling Abraham out of Ur of the Chaldees, giving up the rest of the nations to their sins & idolatrious ways. He made a nation out of Abraham's seed, distinct & separate from all others. The church is not the continuation of Israel.

The truth may be summarized as follows: First: the church is the body of Christ. All true believers are members of the body & are destined to share Christ's glory forever. Second: The Lord Jesus is the head of the body, providing, life, nourishment & direction. Third: Jews have no preference as to admission to the church; neither are Gentiles at a disadvantage. Both Jew & Gentile become members of the Body through faith (Ephesians 2:15; 3:6). That the Gentiles could be saved was not a hidden truth in the Old Testament: but that converted Gentiles would be fellow members of the Body of Christ, to be His companions in glory, & reign with Him, was a truth never known previously.

He piles words upon words in order to impress his readers with the fact that  this is a glorious truth that deserves their closest attention.

Which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. The indwelling Christ is the believers hope of glory. We have no other way to heaven except the Savior Himself. The fact that He indwells us makes heaven as sure as if we were already there.
